Description
Five troy ounces of .999 fine silver, about 155 grams, in a generic bar from one of several makers: Elemetal, Ohio Precious Metals, JM Bullion, Provident Metals, NTR Metals, or A-Mark, depending on what is in stock. Each carries its maker's hallmark with the weight and fineness, and most a serial number. Ohio Precious Metals began in 1974 in Jackson, Ohio, took the OPM name in the 1990s, absorbed NTR Metals in 2012, and became Elemetal in 2015, which is why three of those names appear on near-identical bars.
Five ounces is the step between the ounce bar and the ten. These are plain bars with no card, which is exactly the kind that gets tested here first.
