The 230th Anniversary Flowing Hair High Relief Gold Coin (24YG) commemorates the United States Mint's 230th anniversary by honoring the design of the 1794 Flowing Hair dollar, the nation's first silver dollar. This modern tribute is struck in 1 ounce of 24-karat gold with a high-relief finish, featuring intricate details of Liberty's flowing hair on the obverse and an eagle surrounded by a laurel wreath on the reverse. The coin also includes edge lettering stating "HUNDRED CENTS ONE DOLLAR OR UNIT," mirroring the original 1794 design. Notably, a special "230" privy mark has been added, which is a unique design element with an 230 piece mintage, making it even more intriguing for collectors. With a limited overall mintage of 17,500 pieces, this coin stands out as a significant and highly collectible item and one of the rarest of all time. All coins were auctioned on December 12th by Stacks Bowers gallery in collaboration with the US Mint.
