Description
A tenth of a troy ounce of .9999 fine gold from The Perth Mint's Lunar Series I, dated 1996, the Year of the Rat, with a face value of A$15. The coin is 3.11 grams, 16.1 millimeters across and 1.5 thick. Tony Dean's design shows the animal perched on a rocky surface; the Perth Mint's own table names 1996 the Year of the Mouse. Around the design run the Chinese character for the rat, the year, and the weight and purity, framed by a beaded border. Turn it over and you find Queen Elizabeth II in Raphael Maklouf's portrait, with the face value.
The Rat opens the twelve-year cycle, and 1996 opened Series I, which ran to 2007. Pure Qualified: tested by us before it ships.
