The 1921 Mexico 50 Peso Gold Coin is a historic Mexican gold coin struck to commemorate the centennial of Mexico’s independence from Spain. Containing 1.2057 troy ounces (37.5 grams) of pure gold with a composition of 90% gold, this substantial coin measures approximately 37 mm in diameter. The obverse features the iconic Winged Victory, also known as the Angel of Independence, with the legendary volcanoes Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl in the background, while the reverse displays Mexico’s national coat of arms depicting an eagle perched on a cactus with a serpent in its beak. Dated 1921, the first year of issue for the 50 Peso Centenario, this example is offered in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition, combining significant gold content with one of Mexico’s most recognizable and historic coin designs.
