Description
Ten troy ounces of .999 fine silver in an Engelhard 5th series poured bar with the bull logo, the hallmark Engelhard used on its Canadian-made bars: a bull's head inside an elongated octagon. The 5th series was the first to mark the weight as T.OZ or Troy Ounces and to use seven-digit serial numbers, and the Canadian 5th series ingot measures about 2 3/4 by 1 1/4 inches and half an inch thick. Poured means cast, so the surface keeps the texture of the mold.
Engelhard, founded in Newark in 1902, stopped making silver bars in the 1980s. Expect handling marks.
